The Balaton-felvidék National Park Directorate is expanding with a Grassland Conservation Information Centre in Zalaegerszeg.
Within the framework of the nationwide Grassland-HU LIFE integrated project aimed at preserving Pannonian grasslands, the BfNPD purchased a property in Alsóerdő area of Zalaegerszeg, which provides a landscape of remarkable beauty. The new building will be the Zala County headquarter of the BfNPD, and the Management and Grassland Conservation Information Centre of the project, and its garden surrounded by forest will be transformed into a demonstration garden.
While there is an ongoing procedure that the newly purchased property under state ownership be managed by the DfNDP, minor conservation, renovation and repair works can be started to implement, and the BfNDP staff can make the area around the building suitable for the purpose. As spring approaches, gardening primarily focusing on thinning overspread shrubs, removing locust tree root suckers and aesthetic pruning of trees, bushes and perennial plants.
The tasks is carried out in several steps by the staff of the West Zala Region Division and Zala County Nature Conservation Department of BfNDP.
Outdoor conservation activities were done in the fresh with the participation of a significant number of young people.
