Handover of the new Center!

The Kocsér Grassland Conservation Management Advisory and Landscape Unit Center's handover ceremony took place on 12th-13th September 2024.

The handover of the Kocsér Grassland Conservation Management Advisory and Landscape Unit Center was spent in a good atmosphere at DINPD. Within the framework of the LIFE IP GARSSLAND-HU (LIFE17 IPE/HU/000018) project DINPD purchased and renovated the building was celebrated last week with the participation of the Herman Ottó Institute Nonprofit Ltd., Kiskunság National Park Directorate, Hortobágyi National Park Directorate and Green Action NGO’s representatives.

The Grassland Conservation Management Advisory Service's (GCMAS) main goal is to harmonize the interest of nature conservation and agriculture sectors and the professional support of the grassland managers. The members of the GCMAS provide professional advice for farmers to reach nature-friendly grassland management planning, finance, and implementation. Our goal was to provide this service around the mentioned Natura 2000 grasslands, on-site, where we can meet with the farmers.

On the first day of the event, right after the ceremony, we rushed to the nearby Natura 2000 meadows and watched the sunset at Sár-pile, Kocsér, while observing a 300-individual Red-Footed Falcon (Falco vespertinus) migrating population.

On the next day, the team left at 9 AM for Tiszaajnő, Fényes-Lake newly determined ex-lege saline lake, where we installed a Nature Conservation Area sign, and then had a walk on the nearby grasslands. we rolled over to the white-bed lakes of the Varga reeds in Jászkarajenő, to admire the currently less spectacular results of the wetland habitat reconstruction interventions. Our next stop was the grasslands of the Nagygát Lake in Kocsér, and finally, at the border of Nagykőrös, we looked at marshland meadow next to the Gógány River.
